Eucharist

First Holy Communion

Our parish community prepares for the celebration of the first Eucharist through a programme called Do This in Memory of Me. Put together by parents and cathechists, it started in Ireland in 2004. Coming from a deeply felt need to show that First Holy Communion is not about one day only, it tries to show that the main preparation for the sacrament should not take place in the school, but firstly in the family and then in the parish family. Do This in Memory of Me is for those who live and/or worship in the parish of Frankfield/Grange.

Do This in Memory of Me is a voluntary programme where, once a month at the 6.30pm Saturday night vigil Mass during the months of October to May, we all gather together, the boys and girls from our parish who are preparing to celebrate their First Holy Communion, their families and our parish community. We look at different ways of what it means to be ‘in communion’ with the Lord and with each other.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNIONS 2018: The girls and boys in Mr Kirby’s & Ms O’ Donovan’s 2nd classes in Scoil Nioclais will receive their First Holy Communion on Saturday, 12th May 2018. Ms Lane’s & Ms Galvin’s 2nd classes will receive their First Holy Communion on Saturday, 19th May 2018. The Mass will be celebrated at 11am.

The children were well prepared by their teachers and had many practices in the church before their reception of this very important and life giving sacrament.

The children will make their first confession on a Wednesday in March 2018, at 7pm.

When making the sacraments the child’s baptismal certificate will be required to be handed into the school before she/he makes their First Holy Communion. The baptismal certificate can only be obtained from the parish in which the child had been baptised.

Following their First Holy Communion children need to be encouraged to accompany their parents to Mass on a regular basis to enable them to make a genuine commitment to their faith at the Sacrament of Confirmation in 6th class.

Baptismal certificates in this parish can only be requested and issued at the parish office.

First Fridays

On the 1st Friday of each month the Parish Clergy visit the sick and housebound in their homes and bring Holy Communion to them.  If you would like one of the priests to call to you or a family member/neighbour please contact Fr Kevin (021-4361711) or Fr Ben (021-4362377).
