DO THIS IN MEMORY MASS will be celebrated at the 6.30pm Vigil Mass on Saturday, 25th Janury;  we welcome the children and their families who are preparing for First Holy Communion.

SUNDAY DEVOTIONS: Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Rosary will take place in the Little Chapel at the back of the church this Sunday 19th January at 7pm.

SERVICE OF LIGHT will be held this coming Thursday 23rd January at 7.30pm. The boys and girls from 6th class in Scoil Niocláis will join their parents and teachers for the Service of Light this coming Thursday in the church. This is in preparation for Confirmation on Thursday April 30th at  10.30am.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION every Friday after 10am Mass until 8pm. 

MASS BOOKINGS for February & March may now be booked in the parish office. Opening hours Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10.30am – 12.30pm.

OFFERTORY COLLECTION: Feast of the Epiphany came to €650, last weekend (11/12th January) offertory collection amounted to €1,491, the 2nd collection for the Church Refurbishment Fund came to €1,035. This weekend (18/19th January) the 2nd collection is for Diocesan Needs; thank you for your continued generosity        

CHRISTIAN UNITY PRAYER: God of mercy, lost and disheartened, we turn to You. Instil in us Your hope and courage. May our churches strive for the unity for which Your Son prayed on the eve of His passion. We ask this through Him who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen.

PARISH TAX BACK SCHEME If you pay income tax as a self- employed person or a PAYE worker and you contribute €250 or more in a year to the parish, the parish can claim back on your contributions. This is at no extra cost to you and can be so important to the parish’s income.  All you need to do is ask for a form and a box of envelopes in the sacristy. Please complete the form and we’ll do the rest. Your information is confidential only to the secretary and treasurer of the parish finance committee. For those already in the scheme, your 2020 box of envelopes is available for collection also from the sacristy. 
 
WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY: 18th to the 25th January. The theme this year is UNUSUAL KINDNESS. Our prayer for Christian unity is deeply rooted in the Bible. We pray for unity because Jesus prayed that his disciples would be one, that the world might believe. (John 17:20-21) St. Paul also urged the Churches to which he wrote to recognise their unity in Christ, even though there was diversity within them. Let us always remember to pray for Christian unity in our prayers.

HOLY HOUR TO PRAY FOR VOCATIONS will be hosted by the Franciscan Missionaries of  St. Joseph at the Convent on Blackrock Road (opposite the SMA Church) on Saturday 18th January from 2.30pm – 3.30pm. All are welcome to join in prayer followed by refreshments.
 
REVIEW OF SAFEGUARDING IN THE DIOCESE OF CORK AND ROSS:  The Diocese of Cork and Ross has invited the National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland (NBSCCCI) to conduct a review of safeguarding practice.  This review will take place from January 20th – 23rd 2020. 45 CARD DRIVE Monday, 20th January, from 7.30pm in the parish centre. Now that the evenings are getting shorter come along and enjoy a friendly chat and a cuppa; both experienced and beginners are always warmly welcome.
 
 ACTIVE RETIRED AUTUMN SEASON: Pilates: Tuesday 10.45am, Wednesday, 22nd January, cuppa and chat after 10am Mass, gentle exercise and relaxation 2 – 3 pm on Mondays, followed by Line Dancing from 3 – 4pm. All are welcome. All takes place in the parish centre. Art classes on Tuesdays from 2pm – 4pm.

 DOUGLAS AND DISTRICT CARDIAC SUPPORT GROUP meet on the 1st Thursday each month, from September to June. Venue: Lion House, Douglas Time: 11am – 1pm. The Irish Cancer Society operates a free Volunteer Driver Service that is available to patients attending the following hospitals for chemotherapy treatments; Cork University Hospital, The Mercy University Hospital & South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital. Volunteer drivers will pick a patient up at the door of their home, drop them at the hospital door and then when finished treatment, pick them up and drop them home again. All volunteer expenses are paid. Free DIY Service for Older People: Age Action’s Care & Repair programme is providing DIY work free of charge for older people in Cork. The service has been in operation since 2009 and is expanding year on year as demand grows. To inquire about the Care & Repair service or to request a job, simply call Age Action at their new office on the Model Farm Rd. MASS CARDS: A new selection of Mass cards and other cards are now available in the Parish office. Cost €2 and €3. A new collection of Baptismal candles are also available.
