Do This in Memory Mass: This weekend we welcome to the Saturday evening Mass the children who are preparing for their First Holy Communion along with their parents and families for the enrolment ceremony for the Do This in Memory programme. 

SUNDAY DEVOTIONS: Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Rosary will take place in the Little Chapel at the back of the church on Sunday 13th October at 7pm.

OCTOBER IS MISSION MONTH: Next weekend our parish will celebrate World Mission Sunday. It’s a way, chosen by Pope Francis, that gives support to those suffering within our Church family. On the 20th, every single parish worldwide will give what they can. It will be used to support overseas missionaries, many of whom work in some of the world’s most impoverished communities. Next week, if you can, please be extra generous during Mass. If you can’t give on World Mission Sunday, you can donate €4 right now, by texting the word ‘Mission’ to 50300. (Texts cost €4. PRAYER GROUP:  A group of mothers, grandmothers and other interested adults are coming together to pray the rosary for our children in the parish centre on Tuesday October 15th 8pm; feel free to come along.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED to bundle the Holy Souls Envelopes after 10am Mass this Monday 14th October in the parish centre. An hour of your time would be gratefully appreciated.

THANK YOU: The committee of the Eucharistic Adoration would like to thank Fr Kevin, the Diocesan Eucharist Adoration Committee, the new people that have committed to an hour every Friday. And to all of you, who helped give out the cards. We have offered our hour with the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel during our weekly adoration for all your intentions. May the Lord cause His Light to shine upon you this day and always,              

MASS BOOKINGS for October, November and December may now be booked in the parish office. Opening hours Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10.30am –  12.30pm.  

Pioneer Lunch and Social: The Pioneer Annual Lunch and Social takes place in Actons Hotel, Kinsale on Sunday October 20th at 1.30pm. The four course meal and social with music by Lee Sound is organised by the Mid-West Region of the Pioneers. Pioneers who are due the newer diamond (60 years), gold or silver jubilee pin can be presented with them after the dinner, also 10 year pin. EUCHARISTIC ADORATION every Friday after 10am Mass until 8pm; everyone is welcome to drop in at any stage and spend some time with the Blessed Sacrament.

OFFERTORY COLLECTION last weekend (5/6th October) amounted to €1255, 2nd collection for the monthly Church Refurbishment Fund came to €962. This weekend (12th/13th October) 2nd collection is the Diocesan Needs collection, next weekend (19th/20th) the 2nd collection is for Mission Sunday; thank you for your continued generosity.
 
The pro life film “UnPlanned” which is showing in  all Omniplex cinemas and some IMC cinemas around the country at the moment is getting very positive reviews. We are encouraging people to go and see it at your local cinema and bring a friend; telephone your local cinema to find out when it is being screened. 
 
The Joy of Love in Marriage: A Marriage Enrichment Weekend offers married couples of all ages in a good relationship private time to rekindle the joy of their love. SAFEGUARDING MONTH – Human Trafficking: The diocese supports and seeks to educate people with the modern day problem of Human Trafficking. The Santa Marta Group is an alliance of international Police Chiefs and Catholic Bishops from around the world working together with civil society in a process endorsed by Pope Francis, to eradicate human trafficking and modern day slavery.  45 CARD DRIVE: Monday 14th October from 7.30pm in the parish centre. Now that the evenings are getting shorter come along and enjoy a friendly chat and a cuppa; both experienced and beginners are always warmly welcome.

 ACTIVE RETIRED AUTUMN SEASON: Pilates: Tuesday @10.45am, Wednesday Cuppa and chat after 10am Mass, gentle exercise and relaxation 2 -3 pm on Monday,  
followed by Line Dancing from 3-4pm. All are welcome. All takes place in the parish centre. All activities in the parish centre are up and running, see poster in the church porch for the timetable.
 
ART CLASSES in the parish centre are cancelled on Tuesday 15th October. Classes will resume on Tuesday 22nd October. 
 
DOUGLAS AND DISTRICT CARDIAC SUPPORT GROUP meet on the 1st Thursday each month, from September to June. Venue: Lion House, Douglas Time: 11am – 1pm. The Irish Cancer Society operates a free Volunteer Driver Service that is available to patients attending the following hospitals for chemotherapy treatments; Cork University Hospital, The Mercy University Hospital & South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital. Volunteer drivers will pick a patient up at the door of their home, drop them at the hospital door and then when finished treatment, pick them up and drop them home again. All volunteer expenses are paid. Free DIY Service for Older People: Age Action’s Care & Repair programme is providing DIY work free of charge for older people in Cork. The service has been in operation since 2009 and is expanding year on year as demand grows. To inquire about the Care & Repair service or to request a job, simply call Age Action at their new office on the Model Farm Rd. MASS CARDS: A new selection of Mass cards and other cards are now available in the Parish office. Cost €2 and €3. A new collection of Baptismal candles are also available.
