RECENT DEATHS:  In your prayers please remember Denis Murphy, late of Grange Road. We extend our sincere sympathy to his loved ones, relatives, neighbours and friends; may he rest in peace.         

SCOIL NIOCLÁIS: A warm welcome back to all the pupils & teachers of Scoil Niocláis. An extra special welcome to all the new pupils beginning their academic year in Junior Infants.                  

SUNDAY DEVOTIONS: Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Rosary will take place in the Little Chapel at the back of the church on Sunday 1st September at 7pm.

ST JOSEPH’S YOUNG PRIESTS’ SOCIETY monthly meeting will be held on Monday September 2nd after 10am Mass in the parish centre; new members are always welcome.            

MONTHLY BAPTISM MEETING: The next meeting is Wednesday 4th September at 7.30pm in the parish centre.                                                           

MASS BOOKINGS for September may now be booked in the parish office. Opening hours Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10.30am –  12.30pm. Masses for October, November & December can only be booked from Monday September 2nd                               

Catholic Grandparents Association Annual National Grandparents Pilgrimage September 8th 2019 Knock Shrine at 2.30pm. Everybody welcome to honour & thank grandparents alive & dead for all they have done for us down through the ages. Chief Celebrant will be Bishop Kevin Doran, Bishop of Elphin with combined Choirs of Knock Parish – Dana sings ‘Our Lady of Knock.  
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION every Friday after 10am Mass until 8pm. Everyone is welcome to drop in at any stage and spend some time with the Blessed Sacrament.

Anam Cara Cork, the organisation that supports bereaved parents, is returning after their summer break with their Parent Support Evening. The event is taking place on Wednesday, 4th September at 7:20pm in the Clayton Hotel, Cork City. This is a free event and open to all bereaved parents. ST Vincent de Paul monthly church door collection amounted to €1,074.67. Thank you for your support; this and much more will be distributed in the parish in the coming weeks.

CORK ALZHEIMERS CAFÉ: A safe place for people with Alzheimers and other dementias, their carers, family and friends along with social and health professionals to meet. Last Friday of each month 1.30–3.30pm in St Finbarrs Hospital, Douglas Road. Light refreshments provided free of charge. All welcome. Friday 30th  August – the next meeting.

Prayer at the Ploughing 2019: In preparation for hosting the Diocesan Stand 399 at the National Ploughing Championships Bishop Denis Nulty is inviting people all around the country to choose their favourite prayer, perhaps a prayer learnt at their mother’s knee or handed down ó ghlúin go glúin in their family. People can send their prayer by email to or post them directly to him at Bishop’s House, Dublin Rd, Carlow. The closing date for entries is September 10th. The Ploughing Championships takes place in the middle of the annual Season of Creation, which the Church marks from 1 September – 4 October and Bishop Nulty is also inviting people to get creative and write their own prayer (no more than 100 words) about the environment. This new ‘green prayer’ could relate to farming, gardening or sustainability. A shortlist of the favourite prayers will be displayed at the Kildare & Leighlin stand 399 when the event gets underway in Ballintrane, Fenagh, Co Carlow on 17 September. An adjudication will decide which of the ‘green prayers’ wins a prize of a €100 One for All Gift Voucher.

Cork Autism Conference 2019 –  Autism: No Limits, Just Possibilities,  Sunday, September 22nd, Silversprings Hotel, Tivoli, Cork. Irish Wheelchair Associations Coastal Camino 2019: Are you looking for your next big adventure? If so, why not sign up for Irish Wheelchair Association’s Coastal Camino Walk. This exciting walk is suitable for people of all age groups and all levels of fitness, following a  beautiful trail of 103km from the maritime city of Vigo to wonderful Santiago de Compostela next October. All funds raised will go directly towards helping us to continue to deliver vital services to people with disabilities in your community. 45 CARD DRIVE: Monday 2nd September 7.30pm in the parish centre. Now that the evenings are getting shorter come along and enjoy a friendly chat and a cuppa. Both experienced and beginners are always warmly welcome.
ACTIVE RETIRED AUTUMN SEASON: Pilates: Tuesday 3rd  September @10.45am, Wednesday Cuppa and chat after 10am Mass on Wednesday 18th  September, Gentle exercise and relaxation 2 -3 pm on Monday 23rd September followed by Line Dancing from 3-4pm. All are welcome. All take place in the parish centre.

BLOOD DONOR CLINIC: The Irish Blood Transfusion Service will hold a Blood Donor clinic in  The GAA Hall, Carrigaline from 5pm – 8.30pm on Tuesday 27th & Wednesday 28th August. Blood donation is essential to ensure hospital patients get the treatment they need. DOUGLAS AND DISTRICT CARDIAC SUPPORT GROUP meet on the 1st Thursday each month, from September to June. Venue: Lion House, Douglas Time: 11am – 1pm. The Irish Cancer Society operates a free Volunteer Driver Service that is available to patients attending the following hospitals for chemotherapy treatments; Cork University Hospital, The Mercy University Hospital & South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital. Volunteer drivers will pick a patient up at the door of their home, drop them at the hospital door and then when finished treatment, pick them up and drop them home again. All volunteer expenses are paid. Free DIY Service for Older People: Age Action’s Care & Repair programme is providing DIY work free of charge for older people in Cork. The service has been in operation since 2009 and is expanding year on year as demand grows. To inquire about the Care & Repair service or to request a job, simply call Age Action at their new office on the Model Farm Rd. MASS CARDS: A new selection of Mass cards and other cards are now available in the Parish office. Cost €2 and €3. A new collection of Baptismal candles are also available.
