SUMMER BREAK: The weekly parish newsletter is taking a break for the summer and will resume again  at the end of August. There will however be a newsletter at the end of July covering the events for the month of August.

MASS BOOKINGS for July/August/September may now be booked in the parish office. Opening hours Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10.30am –  12.30pm.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION continues all through the summer months; every Friday after 10am Mass until 8pm.

MONTHLY BAPTISM MEETING: The next meeting is Wednesday 3rd July at 7.30pm in the parish centre.                                                        

ESPICOPAL ORDINATION: The new bishop of our diocese will be ordained in the North Cathedral on this Sunday June 30th. The 3pm ceremony at the Cathedral will be televised live on the website of the diocese at Mass will be concelebrated by the Apostolic Nuncio, most of the bishops of Ireland, the priests of our diocese as well as priests from Fr Fintan’s home diocese of Dublin. There will also be priests from abroad. Bishop John Buckley will be the principal consecrating Bishop at the Ordination Ceremony. All the seating at the Cathedral is already assigned but Fr Fintan invites all the people from across the diocese wherever they may be to join with him in prayer on this Sunday afternoon.

ANNUAL COMMEMORATION: The Annual Commemoration organised by Cork Regional Pioneer Council in honour of Fr. Mathew will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Tory Top Road on Wednesday 3rd July at 7.30 pm. There will be refreshments afterwards in Togher Community Centre.

Monthly Holy Hour to pray for vocations will be hosted by the Poor Clare Sisters, College Road, Cork on Thursday 18th July from 2:30pm to 3:30pm with tea to follow in the parlour; all are welcome.

ST JOHN’S CEMETERY MASS, Ballinrea will take place on Wednesday, August 7th at 7.30pm; all are welcome (bring your own folding chair).

Coastal Rosary will begin a 54 day Rosary Novena on August 21st, the feast of Our Lady of Knock, and finish with day 54 on our coasts, or other suitable locations such as grottos, rivers, churches etc. Fr Marius O Reilly, chaplain in The Mercy Hospital, is the main organiser for this endeavour. It would be nice to have a powerful prayerful mission in honour of Our Lady and would put a visible prayer presence all around Ireland at the various locations. A powerful visual statement that our faith is alive, vibrant and important to our people.

EVANGELIUM IRELAND: Evangelium Ireland will host a one-day Apologetics Conference for young adults at All Hallows’ College, Drumcondra, Dublin 9 on 13th July from 9am – 8pm. The conference will include Holy Mass, informative talks and workshops by clergy, religious and laity and a social in the evening to conclude the event. Talks will be given on aspects of The Eucharist, Sacred Scripture, Sin and there will be workshops on the Complementarity of the Sexes. The cost for the day, including lunch and supper, is €32.50. MOUNT CARA is a twenty-five bedded facility located on the Northside of Cork City, adjacent to the North Monastery School, and situated on the grounds of the “Old Bishop’s Palace”. PRAYER FOR A SAFE JOURNEY: Lord, be our guide and our protector on the journey we are about to take. Watch over us. Protect us from accidents. Save us from danger. Keep us free from harm to body and soul. Lord, support us with your grace when we are tired. Help us be patient in any trouble which may come our way.  I pray that I will safely reach my destination, and that returning safe and sound, I will find my family in good health. DOUGLAS AND DISTRICT CARDIAC SUPPORT GROUP meet on the 1st Thursday each month, from September to June. Venue: Lion House, Douglas Time: 11am – 1pm. The Irish Cancer Society operates a free Volunteer Driver Service that is available to patients attending the following hospitals for chemotherapy treatments; Cork University Hospital, The Mercy University Hospital & South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital. Volunteer drivers will pick a patient up at the door of their home, drop them at the hospital door and then when finished treatment, pick them up and drop them home again. All volunteer expenses are paid. Free DIY Service for Older People: Age Action’s Care & Repair programme is providing DIY work free of charge for older people in Cork. The service has been in operation since 2009 and is expanding year on year as demand grows. To inquire about the Care & Repair service or to request a job, simply call Age Action at their new office on the Model Farm Rd. MASS CARDS: A new selection of Mass cards and other cards are now available in the Parish office. Cost €2 and €3. A new collection of Baptismal candles are also available.
