FIRST HOLY COMMUNION: Congratulations to all the girls and boys from Ms. Ryan’s & Mr. Kirby’s classes who received their First Holy Communion on Saturday May 11th and to Ms. Lane’s & Ms. O’Sullivan’s classes who will receive their First Holy Communion tomorrow Saturday May 18th. They are a credit to everyone. Sincere thanks to all the teachers involved who put in exceptional work with the children as well as the excellent 1st class children who were/will be the choirs on these days. (There will be No 10am Mass tomorrow Saturday morning).

ROSARY for month of May will be prayed at 9.40am – before the 10am Mass every day in our church for the month of May. Following a beautiful tradition Rosary will also be prayed at the Marian Shrine, Grange Park every evening at 7.30pm; everyone is warmly welcomed to join with us in reciting this beautiful prayer to Mary, Mother of God and our Mother. 

MASS BOOKINGS for June may now be booked in the parish office. Opening hours Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10.30am – 12.30pmMasses for July, August & September may only be booked from Wednesday  June 5th  Confirmation & First Holy Communion cards are available in the parish office cost €1.50. 

Anam Cara Cork, the organisation that supports bereaved parents, is holding a Remembrance Evening on Wednesday 5th June at 7:20pm at the Lough, Cork, followed by tea and coffee in the Hawthorn. This event is free and open to all bereaved parents regardless of the age your child died, the circumstances of their death, or whether their death was recent or not. Please RSVP to info@anamcara.ie or 085 2888888 to help us organise. Please note there are NO events in July or August.

SHORT PRAYER FOR EXAM STUDENTS: Dear Lord, give me the spirit of calm to prepare well. Give me the spirit of wisdom to choose the right questions. Give me the spirit of reason to answer to the best of my ability. Allow me do myself justice. Help me be a source of encouragement for my classmates and friends. Guide me through the days ahead and keep me always in your care.

Carrigaline Union of Parishes is holding their annual Summer Fete in St Mary’s School, Waterpark, Carrigaline, on Saturday 25th May from 10am – 2pm. There will be lots of stalls to choose from- Bric a Brac, Toys, Jewellery, Plants, Cakes, Home Produce, Books. Cork Ecumenical Bible Week extends a warm welcome to everyone to join them on Tuesday 21st May in The Sacred Hearts Church , Monkstown with Rev Elaine Murray, Wednesday 22nd May in  St Joseph’s Glanmire with Fr Ben Hegarty OP, Thursday 23rd in Old Schoolhouse, St Michael’s, Blackrock with Dr Richard Scriven and Sunday 26th in Sacred Heart Hall, Western Road with Dr Jessie Rogers at 7.30pm each evening.  Donations welcome.

WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY: The Annual Ecumenical Service for ‘Week of Prayer for Christian Unity’ will take place, on  Sunday 19th May 7.30pm in  St. Columba’s Church, Douglas. The theme this year is ONLY JUSTICE and the material comes from the Christian churches in Indonesia. This gives us an opportunity to reflect upon the context in which we pray for Christian unity. How do divisions in our society contribute to divisions in the Church? Let us continue to work together and pray that the Lord’s wish ‘that they all may be one’ will one day be fulfilled.

OFFERTORY COLLECTION for weekend of 11/12th May amounted to €1302, 2nd collection for Parish Pastoral Services came to €875, this weekend (18/19th May) 2nd collection is for the monthly Church Refurbishment Fund. Next weekend (25/26th May) 2nd collection is for the World Meeting of Families; thank you for your continued generosity.

NEW MISSION TEAM: The formation of a new Mission Team in Cork & Ross diocese is being explored.  Its aim will be to promote and foster mission awareness in parishes and in the diocese.  A meeting will be held on Tuesday 28th May at 7:30pm in the Carrigaline Parish Centre, Cork  Road. Interested parishioners and especially those who have worked overseas on mission or in development work are invited and welcome to attend. LOURDES 2019: YOUNG ADULT HELPERS: The Diocese of Cork and Ross invites young adults 18-25yrs to join the pilgrimage to Lourdes as helpers from 10th to 15th June. As helpers you will assist with the sick and be involved in the full pilgrimage programme – time for prayer, sharing in the story of Lourdes and making new friends. DOUGLAS AND DISTRICT CARDIAC SUPPORT GROUP meet on the 1st Thursday each month, from September to June. Venue: Lion House, Douglas Time: 11am – 1pm. The Irish Cancer Society operates a free Volunteer Driver Service that is available to patients attending the following hospitals for chemotherapy treatments; Cork University Hospital, The Mercy University Hospital & South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital. Volunteer drivers will pick a patient up at the door of their home, drop them at the hospital door and then when finished treatment, pick them up and drop them home again. All volunteer expenses are paid. Free DIY Service for Older People: Age Action’s Care & Repair programme is providing DIY work free of charge for older people in Cork. The service has been in operation since 2009 and is expanding year on year as demand grows. To inquire about the Care & Repair service or to request a job, simply call Age Action at their new office on the Model Farm Rd. MASS CARDS: A new selection of Mass cards and other cards are now available in the Parish office. Cost €2 and €3. A new collection of Baptismal candles are also available.
