NOVENA FOR THE HOLY SOULS ENVELOPES: Distributors, your bundles of envelopes for The Holy Souls Novena are ready for collection in the sacristy. Please collect them after Mass. If there isn’t a distributor in your area and you have the time we would appreciate your help in distributing in your area.

MASS BOOKINGS for October, November & December may now be booked in the parish office. Opening hours Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10.30am – 12.30pm. Due to the high demand for Masses around Christmas we are only taking one intention per person for the weekend Masses in December. 

SUNDAY DEVOTIONS: Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Rosary will take place in the Little Chapel at the back of the church this Sunday, 21st October at 7pm.     

MISSION MONTH: This Sunday, 21st October, is World Mission Sunday! On Sunday we come together for a truly incredible celebration of solidarity and unity within our Church – World Mission Sunday. Every single parish worldwide- and YOU – share what we can so the life-transforming work of missionaries overseas can continue. Through your prayers and contributions, you are fully appreciating the dedication of our missionaries who live and work in communities that are struggling and often war-torn. 

St James’ Cemetery Chetwynd, Togher: Blessing of Graves will take place on Sunday 4th November at 3pm; all welcome.
SAFEGUARDING: All clerics and religious are mandated persons. The Children First Act 2015 places a legal obligation on them, to report child protection concerns to Tusla – Child and Family Agency. These mandated persons must also assist Tusla, on request, in its assessment of child protection concerns about children who have been the subject of a mandated report.

SCOIL NIOCLÁIS JUNIOR INFANTS 2019: Application Forms are now being accepted for Junior Infants 2019 by Scoil Niocláis, Frankfield. They are available from the school office. Closing date for application is Friday 30th November 2018.

ACTIVE RETIRED GROUP: Monday: Line Dancing 3pm – 4pm; Tuesdays Pilates class: 10.45am -11.45am, Art group 2pm – 4pm. Wednesday: Cuppa: after 10am Mass; all in the parish centre; everyone is very welcome. NO EXERCISE CLASS ON MONDAY NEXT 22nd at 2pm. The group is attending a cluster meeting of ARA at 2.30pm in Bru Columbanus (Wilton). All members are welcome to attend. The dancing class will be on at 3pm.

CORK ALZHEIMERS CAFÉ: A safe place for people with Alzheimers and other dementias, their carers, family and friends along with social and health professionals to meet. Last Friday of each month 1.30–3.30pm in St Finbarrs Hospital, Douglas Road. Light refreshments provided free of charge. All welcome. Friday 26th October–the next meeting

The Cork Association for Autism will be holding their annual Flag Day collection on Thursday October 25th and they need volunteers to lend a hand in Douglas, Frankfield, Grange and other locations across the city. The Cork Association for Autism provide support services to over 300 individuals in Cork affected by Autism. These services include residential, respite, day service, home supports and an Asperger Support Service. If you are available to help raise much needed funds for adults on the autistic spectrum please email or call 021 453 3642. 

45 CARD DRIVE on Monday 22nd October at 7.30pm in the parish centre. Now that  the evenings are getting shorter come along and enjoy a friendly chat and a cuppa. Both experienced and beginners are always warmly welcome.

Anam Cara is committed to continue offering all our services at no charge to bereaved parents and families throughout Ireland. Anam Cara’s main fundraising event for 2018 is our national bag pack, once again in conjunction with the lovely people at Dunnes Stores. We are looking for some supportive volunteers who would  consider helping us for a couple of hours on Saturday, 17th November, at Dunnes Stores, Bishopstown between 10am – 6pm. While bag packing may not be the most exciting venture in the world, the income raised on these days helps us to keep our services up and running for those suffering the ultimate loss. DOUGLAS AND DISTRICT CARDIAC SUPPORT GROUP meet on the 1st Thursday each month, from September to June. Venue: Lion House, Douglas Time: 11am -1pm. OFFERTORY COLLECTION for last weekend (13/14th October) amounted to €1501, 2nd collection for the Diocesan Needs came to €730. 2nd collection this weekend (20/21st October) is for Mission Sunday; thank you for your continued generosity.

MISSION MONTH: This Sunday, 21st October, Pope Francis is asking you and every catholic worldwide to come together in celebration of World Mission Sunday. On this very special day every church, in every parish across our globe, will give what they can, no matter how little, towards the World Mission Sunday collection.

The Irish Cancer Society operates a free Volunteer Driver Service that is available to patients attending the following hospitals for chemotherapy treatments; Cork University Hospital, The Mercy University Hospital & South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital. Volunteer drivers will pick a patient up at the door of their home, drop them at the hospital door and then when finished treatment, pick them up and drop them home again. All volunteer expenses are paid. Free DIY Service for Older People: Age Action’s Care & Repair programme is providing DIY work free of charge for older people in Cork. The service has been in operation since 2009 and is expanding year on year as demand grows. To inquire about the Care & Repair service or to request a job, simply call Age Action at their new office on the Model Farm Rd. MASS CARDS: A new selection of Mass cards and other cards are now available in the Parish office. Cost €2 and €3. A new collection of Baptismal candles are also available.
