Please pray for the repose of the soul of Noreen Leisk, late of Shamrock Lawn; we extend our sincere sympathy to her loved ones, relatives, neighbours and friends. May she rest in peace.     

FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION is Wednesday 15th August. Vigil Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday 14th August at 7.30pm. Masses on Wednesday 15th August are at 10am & 7.30pm.   

MASS BOOKINGS for August & September can now be booked in the parish office. Office hours Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10.30am – 12.30pm. 

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION continues all through the summer months, every Friday after 10am Mass until 8pm.

ANNUAL DEVOTIONS HOLY ROSARY SHRINE LEE ROAD will be held on Wednesday 15th AugustChief celebrant: Bishop John Buckley, Homilist: Fr. Greg Howard PP. Join in reciting the Rosary at 6.30pm at Our Lady’s Hospital Gate and follow the fifteen mysteries until Mass begins at the Shrine, Lee Road at 7.30pm.

OPENING CEREMONY FOR THE WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES taking place in our Diocese on Tuesday 21st August at 7:30pm in the Cathedral of Ss Mary and Anne, Cork. An invitation is extended to all parishioners to join in prayer on this day. Bishop John Buckley will preside and he has invited Mgr Aidan O’Driscoll to preach the homily.

PAPAL MASS – SUNDAY 26TH AUGUST at 3pm: An invitation is extended by The Lough Parish Assembly to all who are unable to travel to the Phoenix Park for the Papal Mass to join with them to watch the Mass together on large screen live in their parish church (bring a cushion!) refreshments served after the Mass.

PHOENIX PARK PAPAL MASS 3pm: We are delighted to confirm that our coach is now fully booked as are all the tickets for the entire event. If your name on your receipt does not correspond to your ID which you will need to enter Phoenix Park please contact the parish office on 021-4897379 or email frankfieldgrange@eircom.net Tickets are non-transferable. Shortly the names of those travelling on our coach will be forwarded to the Diocesan Office so that they can be registered with the WMOF. A packed lunch for the journey to Dublin is needed and there’s a meal booked in the Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge at 7.00pm on the return journey. Cost €35 per head. Designated rest zones will be positioned at regular intervals at the transport hubs, along the walking routes and at the gates. Multiple food and drinks stations will be available, as will medical facilities and toilets. Make sure you have any medications you need. This event is not seated so you may be standing for some time. However, portable seating will be allowed into the venue. More details on what you can bring into the venue will be available shortly.

ST PIO CEREMONIES: The Annual Padro Pio Ceremonies commemorating his ordination to the priesthood on August 10th 1910 will be celebrated in the Church of the Holy Spirit, Dennehy’s Cross at 2.30pm on Sunday, August 12th The Mass will be concelebrated by the Rev. Canon Michael Fitzgerald with visiting and resident priests. The religious ceremonies will include: Recitation of the Holy Rosary, Concelebrated Mass, Anointing of the Sick, Benediction, Blessing of the Sick and Blessing with St. Pio First Class Relics. Confessions are also being heard on the day. Everyone is invited to participate in the ceremonies.

KNOCK PILGRIMAGE Saturday September 1st Bus departs Merchant’s Quay at 8am sharp. Cost €20 including Breakfast at Kilcolgan ‘Old Mother Hubards’. Bring packed lunch Rosary-Stations of the Cross. Mass 3pm. Stop for tea in Gort on return journey; contact: Pat 087-6276707.

The Large Pilgrim Statue of St Michael the Archangel (5ft in height) will visit the Church of Our Lady Conceived without Sin, Mitchelstown on Thursday 6th September 2018, accompanied by Fr. Peter Prusakiewicz CSMA, Poland. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 7.30pm. Homily by Fr. Peter will be on St Michael and St Faustina. After Holy Mass, there will be a further talk on The Knighthood including the value of the Scapular. Following the talk, there will be an official enrolment of the Knighthood of St Michael, blessing of the scapular of St Michael and Veneration of the first class relic of St Faustina; all are welcome.

DAYS OF RECOLLECTION with the Servant of God, Mother Marie Adele Garnier (1838-1924), Foundress of the Adorers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Montmartre, OSB, through her writings. Saturday 25th August – Faithfulness, Saturday 29th September – Spiritual Combat. These days of recollection will be held in St. Benedict’s Priory, The Mount, Cobh, Co. Cork. Begins at 9am with Holy Mass and Adoration. 1st talk 11am. Day ends with tea at 3.30. Lunch provided. OFFERTORY COLLECTION for last weekend (4/5th August) amounted to €11202nd collection for the Papal Visit Contribution came to €875. Next weekend (18/19th August) the 2nd collection is the monthly Church Refurbishment Fund ; thank you for your continued generosity

Society fo St Vincent de Paul monthly church door collection came to €997.12. Thank you for your support. This and much more will be distributed in the Parish during the coming weeks.

PRAYER GROUP: A group of mothers, grandmothers and other interested adults are coming together to pray the rosary for our children in the parish centre on Tuesday 14th August at 8pm; feel free to come along.

The Irish Cancer Society needs an extra 30 drivers for our Volunteer Driver Service in Cork city and Co. Cork to drive cancer patients to and from their chemotherapy appointments. We are looking for drivers with free weekday availability and who have a car available to them. Drivers should be able to commit to driving at least two full (week)days a month. All volunteer expenses are paid. If you would like to volunteer, please call Laura on 01 2310 594, email transport@irishcancer.ie for an application form.

Cork Simon Community: Yoga in the Park with Himalayan Yoga Valley Centre at Fitzgerald’s Park every Saturday (weather permitting) at 10am from 2nd June to 8th September in aid of Cork Simon Community. Douglas & District Cardiac Support Group: Meetings 1st Thursday of each month from September to June, in Lion House, Douglas 11am–1pm.  This group provides support and advice for patients who have had cardiac intervention or treatment in an informal atmosphere with an opportunity to chat and socialise over a cup of tea. The Irish Cancer Society operates a free Volunteer Driver Service that is available to patients attending the following hospitals for chemotherapy treatments; Cork University Hospital, The Mercy University Hospital & South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital. Volunteer drivers will pick a patient up at the door of their home, drop them at the hospital door and then when finished treatment, pick them up and drop them home again. All volunteer expenses are paid. Free DIY Service for Older People: Age Action’s Care & Repair programme is providing DIY work free of charge for older people in Cork. The service has been in operation since 2009 and is expanding year on year as demand grows. To inquire about the Care & Repair service or to request a job, simply call Age Action at their new office on the Model Farm Rd. MASS CARDS: A new selection of Mass cards and other cards are now available in the Parish office. Cost €2 and €3. A new collection of Baptismal candles are also available.
