Easter Message from Fr Kevin & Fr Ben

Shortly we will celebrate as the Christian community the central mysteries of our faith the death and resurrection of Jesus. In remembering the events of Holy Week, we are not just commemorating them. We are drawing strength from them and reminding ourselves of our core beliefs as Christians. We have an important message to share with the world, the Good News of the risen Christ. We live out the Christian message each day in our daily lives and try to reflect God’s love for all of humanity.

As Christians we cannot live in the past. We have to look forward learning from the example of previous generations and how they witnessed to their faith. The Church has been always changing down through the ages. In our diocese of Cork & Ross change will come with the appointment of a new bishop. No doubt he will introduce changes in the diocese as he deals with the various challenges that face us as a diocese.

At the World Meeting of Families in Dublin in August of this year new ways will be explored on how to help the Christian Family in today’s world. Already large numbers of people from abroad have registered for attending the event.

Change can bring fear to people but we must take heart from the words of the angel to the women at the tomb “There is no need for you to be afraid.” Change will come as the world changes and the Church responds to those changes to carry out her mission. The Risen Lord is with his people and so we are people of the Good News. Let us share that Good News and Easter joy with those around us.
